- חִפּוּי, חִי׳m. (preced.) 1) covering, wrapping. Kel. XVI, 8 (חעשוׄי) לח׳ whatever is intended for wrapping, opp. תיק, casing, Ib. XXVI, 6. Tosef. ib. B. Bath. IV, 11; a. e.Pl. חִפּוּיִם, חִי׳. Ib. XVI, 8 חִפּוּיֵ האלהוכ׳ the wrapping of a lance 2) upholstered seat. Ib. XXII, 4 a bridal chair שנטל חִפּוּיוֹ whose seat is missing; (Eduy. I, 11 חִפּוּיָו, Ms. M. דפניו, Mish. Nap. חופיו, v. Rabad a. l.). Kel. l. c. 6 שנטל חִפּוּיוֹ האמצעי whose middle cushion (of the three forming the seat) is wanting.Pl. as ab. Ib. 5 שלא היו חִפּוּיָו יוצאין (ed.
